Butlins Cream Weekender

December 7th - 9th 2018 | Butlins, Minehead

A poster for the cream weekender in little south

There are few institutions that have made such an indelible mark on the electronic music landscape than Cream, the global clubbing behemoth which ignited the UK dance music explosion back in the early 90’s, and its testament to its global impact that has kept Cream at the top of their game for 25 years.

The multi roomed weekender will be taking fans on a musical journey from Cream’s humble beginnings to present day. Expect a sea of hands in the air moments, lots of vinyl, pool parties and general daytime fun and good times with a gathering of 6000 like-minded souls joining together for one big Christmas disco.

Much like any of the Big Weekends through Butlins, the Cream Weekender will combine two things that Britain does really well - holiday resorts and festivals.

We explore the thoughts of artists and music sharing. In today's digital age, discovering new music has become more accessible than ever due to online platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and download services such as Beatport. While traditional methods of exploring music, such as visiting record shops, have diminished in popularity, the process of musical exploration remains significant and enriching, especially when one encounters a standout track. For performing artists, the quest for fresh music is a continuous endeavor, often regarded as equally important as the performance itself. This raises an interesting question: is it appropriate for artists to keep the details of their music sources confidential? This topic invites further discussion from some of the South West DJs and producers on the nature of music discovery in the modern landscape.
