We explore the thoughts of artists and music sharing. In today's digital age, discovering new music has become more accessible than ever due to online platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and download services such as Beatport. While traditional methods of exploring music, such as visiting record shops, have diminished in popularity, the process of musical exploration remains significant and enriching, especially when one encounters a standout track. For performing artists, the quest for fresh music is a continuous endeavor, often regarded as equally important as the performance itself. This raises an interesting question: is it appropriate for artists to keep the details of their music sources confidential? This topic invites further discussion from some of the South West DJs and producers on the nature of music discovery in the modern landscape.

Dave Pearce Rekindles Dance Nostalgia In Newquay

November 8th 2019 | Berties, Newquay

Rewind Take Over With Dave Pearce

We sent Lisa our event reviewer to Newquay to catch one of the best-loved 90s dance music DJs, Dave Pearce who was headlining affairs. The event was organised by ' DJinCornwall ' who are behind an increasing number of interesting events - such as silent discos at the Eden Project and headline trance DJs at the Penventon Hotel in Redruth!

Event Review

Lisa says
Now I'm a 40-something, a Friday night clubbing has long-since been replaced with paddle boarding, yoga or simply collapsed in a heap on the living room floor after yet another stressful week at work. When I was given the opportunity to hit the dance floor with Dave Pearce (DP) on the DJ decks, I jumped at the opportunity to scrape myself off the floor, dust off my Adidas gazelles and dance through the night.

"Rarely have I been on a night out where the atmosphere was so electric and everyone was just there for a good time."

Being relatively new to Cornwall, Bertie's was not a place I had visited before but I knew it by reputation. Surveying the room upon entry, Bertie's has that right mix of ingredients that means it will be etched into your memory banks forever; dark sticky carpets, podiums and small booths surrounding the dancefloor.

There was a mix of characters there that night; those enjoying the first flushes of nightclub experience and an older crowd strictly there for Dave Pearce and a glimpse back into our youth. DP eventually hit the decks at 12:20 and the entire crowd erupted. For the duration of his set the majority of the crowd were dancing and singing, conducted by the man himself from the DJ box. I even spotted a couple of dedicated dancers who had managed to bring along their own glow sticks for the occasion.

Those not involved on the dance floor were busily filming the entire spectacle from their mobile phones. Rarely have I been on a night out where the atmosphere was so electric and everyone was just there for a good time. The music was loud enough to feel the vibrations on your skin, they threw in lasers and the biggest disco ball I've seen in a long time. I'd forgotten just how much good trance music had been around.

At 2am, DP was done and frankly so was I. What a fantastic night!
