A poster for podcast mixes emu episode 18/18

Cornwall's drum and bass DJ, EMU steps up to the Little South podcast mix series with an episode utilising triple CDJs and even some mixing onto vinyl for good measure!

EMU tell about yourself and your musical style:

Im a Drum & Bass DJ through and through. I try to create energy within my sets and mixes while keeping a vibe. My sets can differ massively depending on venue, time slot or who I am supporting. I enjoy all aspects of Drum & Bass, whether it be a Noisia slammer or something a bit more chilled by the likes of Calibre.

What have you been upto this year so far and what is planned?
To be honest this year has been a lot quieter than previous years with regards to playing out, that being said I have played at some good events. Would say this years highlight was winning the AFT Records mix competition, this lead on to me playing at No Mans Land Festival. That was a massive confidence boost for me. Another highlight was the Dubphonics night back in June supporting Annix & Klip & Outlaw. That night was just mad on all levels. I went over to Prague for Let It Roll festival, this has given me some good inspiration as a DJ. Plans for the future, me and my partner are buying a house which will have a room set up as a dedicated studio. Expect to see some of my own productions emerging, under a new alias.

Tell us where we can catch you playing out?

21st September, The Factory, Plymouth - Supporting Koherent

19th October, The Factory, Plymouth - Supporting Benny L & Bou

There are a few others that i can't say much about as the are yet to be announced

Talk us through your podcast mix - why did you select the tunes you have done?

To be honest its a pretty off the cuff mix, just kinda pressed record and this happened. Its quite rolling, mixed across 3 cdjs and the odd track on vinyl. I tried the keep the mix interesting for everyone, throwing in the odd vocal tune or classic. Its basically a 55 minute journey through my taste in Drum & Bass.
