We explore the thoughts of artists and music sharing. In today's digital age, discovering new music has become more accessible than ever due to online platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and download services such as Beatport. While traditional methods of exploring music, such as visiting record shops, have diminished in popularity, the process of musical exploration remains significant and enriching, especially when one encounters a standout track. For performing artists, the quest for fresh music is a continuous endeavor, often regarded as equally important as the performance itself. This raises an interesting question: is it appropriate for artists to keep the details of their music sources confidential? This topic invites further discussion from some of the South West DJs and producers on the nature of music discovery in the modern landscape.

Enyon Sunset Groove Mix

Episode 15/19 | Enyon | Podcast Mixes

A group of people dancing on a beach with the words podcast mixes enyon episode 15/19

Enyon delivers a groove-filled house and disco DJ mix perfect for getting those terrace parties moving as the sun sets! We catch up with Enyon to find out what he's been upto.

Hello again Si (Enyon), summer is in full swing - what have you been up to?
Hey Little South, thanks for reaching out for another mix, it’s always a pleasure to put something exclusive together for you guy’s and the South West readers! This ones a bit of a Sunset Groove with some really choice cuts that can get those terraces dancing, hope you all like it! So far this summer I have been putting all of my efforts into a new business I have just started up after leaving dBs Music in June. i not only write and produce disco / house music but also compose music and record ADR & Sound Design for TV, games and short films, I’ve been doing this for about 15 years on and off and felt now was the time to develop it all. The company is called Black & Gold Audio and we specialise in everything post production. I am working with some other composers, sound designers and voiceover artists from different places in the UK and I am really excited about future prospects, we have already started working with a couple of TV companies on some projects. The company also has an education arm and are delivering short courses in production and recording within Cornish schools, we already have 11 schools set up for September which is great. Education is really close to my heart, especially in the music and media industries amongst turbulent times where many schools are seeing funding and creative curriculums in crisis due to terrible government policy. Aside from the new business I have just started writing for MusicTech magazine, I interview big players in music production and recording as well as review new gear which is always nice! I have also just finished up completing a new Loop Pack for BandLab Industries this month, it’s two tracks as construction kits for their flagship cloud based DAW. If you use BandLab check out ‘Enyon’s Glitterball Disco’ pack coming very soon. So yeah, that’s mainly what I have been focusing on right now… a rather busy summer!

How are your productions being received?
Yeah, really well. Some of the recent releases and remixes have been hitting specialist disco / soul charts and getting good support all round from some key players, it’s always nice to see the music getting well received when you put so much effort into creating it. I was really happy with the response to a recent remix I did for Lenny Fontana’s Karmic Power label, it was completed about a year ago and I thought it was a little dated but how wrong was I!

Do you have any tracks in the pipeline?
Hahahaha... I have loads of tracks in the pipeline, it’s just a case of waiting on other session musicians and singers right now to finish their writing and recording. I’m in no hurry though, it’s all about the love and if something takes a year or more to finish, get remixed and released then that’s cool. It’s better to spend time getting something right than rushing it out, there is too much ‘below average’ music on the streets nowadays, more quality rather than quantity please! I have a track with Keith Thompson (Break 4 Love) coming up, who of course is just an amazing talent and so nice to get together with him again after a recent trip to New York. I also have one with Jermaine Dalrymple who I have worked with before as the Stereo Mutants, he’s an amazing soul singer and I just love his silky tones. Next up on my label in September will be a track I did 18 months ago with Marcus Pearson called ‘Words You Say’, that’s just been remixed by DJ Romain (Nervous / Nu Faze Records) as well as Andy Buchan (Masterworks Music) and Craig Campbell who is new to the label and is making some amazing boogie / funk music :) I also have a few instrumental tracks ready for some EP releases… busy, busy!

What gigs are lined up?
Not a lot at the moment to be honest, what with the new business taking up so much time something has to give a little and late nights is one of them! I’m still doing a couple of bits here and there and myself with Myles Diverse and Nathan B will look at getting Modern Disco back out again at some point towards the end of the year. We are starting to find Cornwall quite difficult to get a regular venue right now but we are working on it.. Aside from that i am still doing my monthly radio show for Source FM on the 1st Saturday of every month, so please tune in or listen back via my Soundcloud page. The show is being really well received in the industry and with listenership. I really work hard at getting some of the scene’s brightest stars in for an exclusive guest mix and recently I have had Michael Gray form Full Intention, Ladies on Mars from Argentina, C Da Afro, Groove Assassin and I have some beauties lined up for the rest of the year..:) So if you like my mix, tune in on a monthly basis for a dose of D.I.S.C.O!
