Plymouth's hugely popular light art installation festival, Illuminate, will return to Royal William Yard between November 28th and December 1st 2019.

New for 2019, Illuminate is now a multi-site festival - enjoy additional installations at the Barbican and Mount Edgcumbe.

Plymouth will be transformed, showcasing projections and light art installations from local, national and international artists to provide a vibrant, fun and inspiring experience for Plymouth’s citizens and visitors alike.

Following last years amazing festival, which welcomed over 28,000 visitors across the weekend, Illuminate will grow further for 2019! Stay tuned for exciting location announcements, coming soon...

The festival offers a host of workshops, installations, performances and projections with various opportunities for you to take part in activities or simply wonder at the spectacular illuminations.

This 4-day event will open the Mayflower 400 commemorations, and is inspired by the values of freedom, humanity, imagination, and future.

ILLUMINATE WORKSHOPS

As part of this year’s Illuminate programme we have an exciting programme of workshops that you can get involved with!

Exploring Light and Clay:
As a family you will have the opportunity to explore light and shadows through the medium of clay

Glow in the Dark:
Create your very own Illuminate festival fashion by customising your own t shirt using our glow in the dark and sparkly glitter garment transfer vinyl.

Discover the Cyanotype Process:
This workshop will teach you the photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print.

Commonsense Studio​ open house:
The studio will be open for a variety of light themed printing activities for all the family.
