Jon Worsley Techno Mix

Episode 9/19 | Jon Worsley | Podcast Mixes

A man with a beard and glasses is playing music on a mixer.

We are chuffed to have Jon Worsley back for another podcast mix. Jon brings a strong techno sound which he says was made on the fly with little planning, simply hitting record and seeing what happens!

A few words from the artist

Hi Jon, great to have you back. How has the year shaped up for you so far?

Its great to be back, Thanks for having me on again. 2019 so far... Well it started with a real bang at the Warehouse NYE party playing alongside a host of great Southwest DJ’s, closing the night out alongside Simmer was a particular highlight. SiN live shows have been great this year and means as a crew we all get to hang and play thundering techno all night for a select few guests, can’t be bad.

What’s planned for the rest of 2019?
Lots, some under wraps and some nearly here (depending when this goes out) at the weekend its the SiN stage takeover at the Masked Ball all day Sunday, a huge yearly high point. Then no messing about for me as I’m back in Helston for Flora Day playing the Secret Garden Party at the Beehive (cheers to Devin) alongside a great eclectic mix of the Cornwall’s finest. Following that it will be onto more SiN Live and then……… keep your eyes on the SiN page www.sintechno.co.ukfor where we will be next.

What producers / labels are you closely following?
This is the hardest question, because…….I try not to. When i buy music I’m pretty random how i search, i kind of just delve in and if i like it in the bag it goes. I try not to be too influenced by the various charts as I’m always trying to find something different, for me the idea of a DJ is to introduce new music and play things that makes you want to find out “Whats that track”, if you just follow the same lable and producers and buy from the techno charts then you end up sounding like a greatest hits juke box. Having said that i love most stuff that appears on Christian Smiths Tronic label, Filth on Acid as a label have been on fire recently for that harder edged stuff and you can never go wrong with a few tracks from Thomas Schumacher hiding in your box at the moment.

Talk us through your tune selection for this podcast mix.
Hmmm, i would love to tell a big story here about how its a deep transcendent journey, utilising rhythms to reach a higher techno plane, carefully selected after much soul searching. This mix was however on the fly. Most of the time i just hit record and see what happens and this one was no exception, look out for Age Of Lust by Arjun Vagale on the awesome Suara label though, its a huge track.
