Ravers travelled the length and breadth of the UK to attend an illegal event set up on a disused airfield near the sleepy Cornish village of Camelford. For some locals the first indications of anything happening was the thuds from the huge sound systems set up. Hundreds of attendees who managed to access the site, before road blocks were in place by the Police, had the entire Davidstow airfield to party. Hundreds more found their way on to the site by navigating the fields. Music ranged from reggae sets through to techno and psychedelic-trance. The event is thought to be marking the 30th anniversary of Castlemorton which was one of the UK's largest illegal raves.
There have been reports of multiple arrests particularly those believed to be the event organisers.
There have been reports of multiple arrests particularly those believed to be the event organisers. Efforts to shut the event down and prevent attendees accessing the site were unsuccessful. Authorities remained on site to observe as events continued for 3 days and into the Monday morning.
Reports that the site was left in a poor state with rubbish and wildlife disturbed remain unsubstantiated. A local farmer disputed claims that rubbish had been left and said that attendees refused to leave the site until rubbish had been collected.
But don't just take our word for it, check out what Vice has to say.
