Cornwall's freshest feel good music festival returns to the secluded grounds of Scorrier house on May 31st - June 2nd 2019. The Great Estate festival, now in it's third year, brands itself as 'Cornwall’s most rambunctious garden fête' and is proving be one of Cornwall's top festivals. We are once again expecting another quality production featuring a dynamic fusion of music, art and food.

Adding a touch of high-octane mayhem to this year’s event is Bethnal Green’s very own Lucha Britannia. Donning vibrant spandex and colourful masks, this English lucha-libre style professional wrestling will bring an undoubtedly raucous show to The Great Estate. Famed for training a wide selection of leading international superstars, the English-Mexican display promises nail-biting aerial manoeuvres, dramatic storytelling and flamboyant physical theatre. Be prepared, this is Mexican Wrestling with an exciting twist.

Showcasing sportsmanship and athletic flair, The Great Estate’s official Victorian Sports Day will host a variety of school-inspired games for all the family to enjoy. From sack races and tug of war tournaments to croquet and pass the slipper, the programme of events will require strength, speed and agility. Win or lose, this is a battle of the best and a race to victory.

To mark the festival’s third anniversary, The Great Estate invites a collection of video mapping artists to bring Scorrier House to life with a series of vibrant light displays. Transforming the stately home with unforgettable and mesmerising visual shows, The Grand Cinematic Experience will showcase artist’s works across the festival weekend.

The Great Estate announces its first wave of acts playing in the wild meadows and ancient woodland of the Scorrier House Estate. Welcomingone of British indie rock’s most celebrated bands, James will headline festival proceedings alongside Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly . Taking place from Friday 31st May – Sunday 2nd June 2019, Cornwall’s most rambunctious garden fête fuses music, art, food and an eclectic mix of weird and wonderful happenings. Having sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, Manchester-formed band James will take to the main stage on Saturday 1st June 2019 for an exclusive South West performance. Having produced a string of huge hits over the past three decades including ‘Come Home’, ‘Sit Down’, ‘She's a Star’ and ‘Laid’, the Mancunians returned last summer with their 15th studio album, aptly titled ‘Living In Extraordinary Times’. More than familiar with the UK festival circuit having previously headlined Glastonbury and Festival Number 6, the seven-strong band are set to perform a combination of classic Nineties songs and new material.

Essex-born Sam Duckworth AKA Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. will perform at The Great Estate on Friday 31st May with a full backing band featuring drums, bass, violin, keys, flute, horn and guitar. The adventurous songwriter released his sixth studio album ‘Young Adult’ back in 2018 creating a refreshed and uplifting live show fusing new material and traditional Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. sound.

Returning to the prestigious grounds of Scorrier House, Funk and Soul icon Craig Charles will undoubtedly whip the crowd into yet another festival frenzy. No stranger to playing at The Great Estate, the one-man party machine promises a night of ‘can you dig it’ attitude and dance-floor jivin’. Following last year’s high-energy show that had the crowd dancing to the bitter end, the legendary actor, host and broadcaster will close the main stage in style on Sunday 2nd June.

Joining the list of headline acts for 2019 is New York collective Brass Against . Combining rock and edgy hip-hop, the protest band play empowering music with a political edge. Supporting Lenny Kravitz in London this year, Brass Against will undoubtedly inspire festival fans. Italian electro-swing four-piece The Swingrowers are set to play on Friday 31st May. Hailing from Palermo in Sicily, party-goers can expect a blend of dance music with the warm influences of swing from the 20s and 30s. Having played sell out shows across the US, plus a host of European gigs and UK festivals including Boomtown and Latitude, their irreverent style is set to ignite this year’s event.

Also joining main stage music bill is Plastic Mermaids – a surf-loving five-piece hailing from the Isle of Wight; London Astrobeat Orchestra – a combination of the finest West African musicians with one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the 20th Century; Wildwood Kin – An indie/folk female trio from Devon; and Crinkle Cuts – A band guaranteed to deliver a blasting of tantric funk, smooth reggae and new-wave Latin ska.

In other music news, revellers can soak up the sounds at Madame Wong’s House of Wrong. Acts secured for 2019 include Elvana - An Elvis-fronted Nirvana tribute band; Hong Kong Ping Pong Club – Fresh, funky and fun, expect an eclectic mix including everything from breaks, dub step and hip hop; Jelly Jazz – On hand to provide an evening of soul, funk, Latin, hip-hop and break-beat all with a jazz twist. Town of Cats – Brighton born, the lively nine-piece bring booty shaking beats with a mixture of Ska, Gypsy-Rock, Hip-Hop, Funk Folk and Latino; Future Dub Orchestra – Committed to pushing the musical boundaries, Future Dub Orchestra take music into new directions with influences as diverse as Electronica, Dub, D&B, Reggae and Film Music; and Hip Hop Karaoke – a chance for amateur rappers to swap the field for the stage and belt out anything from Missy Elliot to Eminem.

Transcending her obsession for 1920's to 1950's glitz & glamour, Tallulah Blue will take centre stage in Madame Wong’s House of Wrong across the weekend with sensual performances of burlesque and classic circus. Wowing crowds across the globe, this vaudevillian showgirl will be joined by Diva the Whip Lady for an added burst of racycabaret.

Weekend Camping Tickets are currently on sale priced from £85 (plus £4.50 booking fee). Glamping options with bell tents and hobbit huts are also available. Please note TheGreat Estate operates a tiered ticket system with prices changing over time. An allocation of tickets is reserved for each tier, this will close when the allocation of tickets is sold out. For festival guests wanting to set up camp early and party the night away with Back Beat Sound System, this year’s event will open its gates to tents, campervans, caravans and motorhomes on Thursday 30th May. For those with a passion for classic and vintage vehicles, The Great Estate will host a Vintage Car Show on Sunday 2 nd June. Highlighted by the picturesque backdrop of The Scorrier Estate, car enthusiasts can soak up the roar of engines and sight of beautiful bodywork.

New for 2019, Wild Wine Club will take over the spectacular dining hall of Scorrier House on Saturday 1st June for a four-course Portuguese banquet to remember. Sommelier Debbie Warner will be joined by Adam Banks, head chef, Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall for The Grand Dining Experience that will blend mouth-watering dishes with a menu of carefully selected wines. Wild Wine Club’s sell-out long table feasts in the derelict horse shed will also return for the third year with a Mediterranean menu fit for a king. Popping up on Friday 31st May and Sunday 2nd June, the gastronomic adventures will welcome Natasha Osborne, St Ives based private chef and fisherman’s daughter, and Steve
Knowles, chef patron, The Old Custom House in Padstow.

The Great Estate’s resident tattooists return for the third year to ink guests within the four walls of the pop-up tattoo parlour. More commonly referred to as Captain Inkus Rum & Tattoo Parlour by festival organisers, this updated studio will serve refreshing beverages, issue permanent keepsakes and play the best in hard rock.

In music news, The Great Estate is excited to reveal Elvana, an Elvis-fronted Nirvana tribute band hailing from Newcastle-upon-Tyne. With an uncanny ability to tear through Nirvana’s catalogue of hits whilst splicing in sections of Elvis’s finest moments, this is rock and roll meets grunge. Other acts on this year’s bill include Town of Cats, Hip-Hop Karaoke and Crinkle Cuts. More headline acts and artists still to be announced. Redesigned and updated venues will fill the gardens of The Great Estate in 2019 including the return of The Whispering Woods with poetry sessions by day and cosy fireside acoustic sessions by night, plus The Secret Gin Garden, which will host the official festival opening party with Back Beat Sound System and classical musical sessions. Other favourite areas scheduled to pop up in the grounds of the manor house include Stage on the Green - Home to The Great Estate’s headline artists and main stage performers; Madame Wong’s House of Wrong - A blend of glitz, glamour, comedy, tassels and tease; Woodland Silent Disco - Nestled within a secret forest glade this hidden party will see DJ’s battle it out spinning the best in pop, rock and club classics; The Hokey Cokey Parlour - From circus workshops to a skate ramp, this tent provides fun and frolics for all the family; and The Sanctuary - offering head-to-toe pampering, the dedicated wellness area will revive and rejuvenate party-goers.

Making her Little South debut, Sugarshaker is no stranger to the South West dance music scene having played at clubs and festivals across the region. The curators of the West Cornwall raves are currently preparing for their next event scheduled for May 2025. This event will take place in the fields of West Cornwall, near the village of Zennor. A lineup of DJs, including Ambassador 626 Kavos, Charlie M, Deckhead, DJ Brady, Lady Embrace, Ste Ellis, and Steve Lid, among others, will be performing. The event is a collaborative effort involving prominent dance music promotion groups such as Raw Rotation, Inception, Kernow Rave Culture, and TNT.
