South West Techno DJ Dave Hunt delivers a unique podcast mix with influences from ground breaking artists such as Ramon Tapia to create his ambient journey.
Hi Dave, great to have you back for our podcast mix series. What have you been upto in 2018?
Thanks for asking me back Little South, 2018 was a good year for me playing at local festivals and locally organised feature nights. The love of techno seems to be on the increase.
What are your stand out gigs?
The gigs that definitely stand out would be the two SIN takeovers at the the summer Ball and Frendzy, they were crazy. But that b2b set with Ben Chandler at the NYE Warehouse Party in Falmouth has to be my favourite, it was going off in there.
What is next for 2019?
2019 is shaping up to another belter, with hosting the SiN Sunday at the May Ball again and some more dates confirmed for some proper techno nights in North Cornwall that will be announced soon.
Which labels / producers do you follow?
Labels you can rely on for those little gems, that always make a difference in my sets would have to be Noir Music, Suara and Phobiq. They offer the full range including big heavy hitters from Flug to the deeper techno sounds of Victor Ruiz.
Talk us through your tune selection for this podcast mix.
The last two podcast mixes that I have done for you have been peak time tunes from start to finish, so this time I wanted to play a style that people don't normally hear from me and show a different side to my tune collection. The mix includes tracks from Ramon Tapia, Transcode, OC and Verde and consists of rolling beats, ambient builds and two bangers at the end.
