What artists have inspired your DJ style?
Too many to mention here, but the first 12' single I ever held was in 1975 and it was
"Dance And Shake Your Tambourine" by the Universal Robot Band (A Patrick Adams / Greg Carmichael release). My Dad, James Simonelli , had and has a very big record collection and he is the one who taught me how to not only listen to music , but how to experience it. In the 80's , after graduating from Center For Media Arts , I went to work (as an Intern to start with) for Arthur Baker and Shakedown Sound.
I learned much there about life in the Studio. I now have three Children , Immanuele , Antonino and Christopher who are all now getting more deeply into music also. Some DJs I grew up listening to, in NY were David Mancuso, Tony Humphries, Merlin Bob, Timmy Regisford, amongst many others. Radio in NY was great in the 70's and 80's and radio stations 92 Wktu , 99x Wxlo (which became 98.7 Wrks Kiss FM) and 107.5 Wbls , always had awesome DJ mix shows on Air, which I would often record on Cassette.
