We explore the thoughts of artists and music sharing. In today's digital age, discovering new music has become more accessible than ever due to online platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and download services such as Beatport. While traditional methods of exploring music, such as visiting record shops, have diminished in popularity, the process of musical exploration remains significant and enriching, especially when one encounters a standout track. For performing artists, the quest for fresh music is a continuous endeavor, often regarded as equally important as the performance itself. This raises an interesting question: is it appropriate for artists to keep the details of their music sources confidential? This topic invites further discussion from some of the South West DJs and producers on the nature of music discovery in the modern landscape.

Flambé House Session

Episode 16/19 | Flambé | Podcast Mixes

A poster for podcast mixes flambé episode 16/19

We are really pleased to welcome a new artist to our Podcast Mix series. Flambé is a Plymouth DJ and Promoter behind the hugely popular ' DancersHip ' terrace parties. Flambé goes full swing into a house musicsession with vocal tracks moving into a deeper house sound.

Welcome to our podcast mix series, please introduce yourself.
My name is Craig otherwise, sometimes known as Flambé, long story. I am the creator of DancersHip alongside the Nut Thief (James) which is approaching it's 5th birthday. We play & love house music.

Talk us through your year so far.

Building on the momentum of last year and our summer residency at the Terracein Plymouth, which has lead to us hosting some fabulous parties in 2019 with the likes of Glasgow Underground and Kevin McKay, House production sensations Saison, House music Don's Graeme Park and Pete Heller , and of course our Bank Holiday Terrace take over with Café Mambo Ibiza. We've also developed a couple of boutique & bespoke nights with other venues across the city, in particular Air and Bar Miami and has given the 'DancersHip' stable of DJs a chance to show case their love of house music on a weekly basis throughout the year.

What have been your stand out gigs?
They've all been pretty good.... Seeing the love for Graeme Park from Plymouth's clubbers was special. Friday afternoons into evenings at Air with Steve Power and his balearic inspired sounds have been a treat each week when the sun has been shinning. Just playing out in general at the moment with all the DH rezzies and our live percussionist King Konga is great fun. We've been blessed with the number and the quality of venues who invite us to play on a regular basis.

What’s planned for the rest of the year?
There's a DancersHip 5th birthday coming up and a trip to ADE, but before that it's Café Mambo Ibiza at the Terrace followed by a monster of an After Party, and then the not so small mater of Pete Heller coming to town for our season closer end of September. 2020 plans are already in motion and DancersHip will be looking forward to working alongside some of the City's waterfront organisations for some pretty special events to help celebrate Mayflower 400.

"Dance floor chuggers and solid slices of House to finish into the night."

Talk us through your podcast tune selection.
Kept it simple, just picked some of my favourite producers and artists that you could hear at any DancersHip event. Wanted to give a feel for our Day / Dusk / Dark parties that we are gaining a well deserved reputation for, with the selection of Soulful/US Garage type sound early on into slightly deeper and Vocal House. Dance floor chuggers and solid slices of House to finish into the night.
