Jembaa Groove Afro Soul

Mount Pleasant Eco Park, Porthtowan

Jembaa Groove will be performing at Mount Pleasant Eco Park on November 23rd, 2024. The band is known for their innovative Afro-Soul music. Founded in late 2020 by bass player and composer Yannick Nolting and singer-percussionist Eric Owusu, Jembaa Groove consists of seven members. Their music reflects a blend of contemporary sounds from Berlin’s underground music scene and traditional West African influences, particularly from Ghana and Mali.

Jembaa Groove – Fresh Afro-Soul Music – Ghana’s Highlife going by the heartbeat of 70s Soul Music.


A multicultural band founded in late 2020 by bass player and composer Yannick Nolting and singer-percussionist Eric Owusu. This 7-piece live band combines fresh sounds from Berlin’s underground music scene with traditional West-African sounds from Ghana and Mali.


After garnering massive support from the international media world (KEXP, BBC 6, Gilles Peterson, Soulection, WDR, FIP etc) of the back of their debut album Susuma in 2022, Jembaa Groove come forth to the Eco Park this November with their second studio album Ye Ankasa/We ourselves.


Infused by fundamental elements of Ghanian Highlife from the 70’s, the band has its own take on a number of influences that goes far beyond just trying to imitated the greats that came before. With their rousing and energetic live performances they have made themselves a name throughout Europe and beyond.


Get ready for Jembaa Groove to take you on a journey, floating through a variety of dreamy horn lines, stirring guitars and celestial vocals.

Being a mix of members of African and European descend hailing from different corners of the planet, Jembaa Groove blend a melting pot of influences that result in what they say is a contemporary take on Highlife, Jazz and Soul.

TIMES – Bar + food from 6pm / Live music from 8pm – 1am.

TICKETS – Early bird £12 / Advance Online £14 (Over 18’s only)

FOOD – Canteen will be serving delicious plant based dinner from 6 – 8pm, keep an eye out for their menu announcement soon!

The curators of the West Cornwall raves are currently preparing for their next event scheduled for May 2025. This event will take place in the fields of West Cornwall, near the village of Zennor. A lineup of DJs, including Ambassador 626 Kavos, Charlie M, Deckhead, DJ Brady, Lady Embrace, Ste Ellis, and Steve Lid, among others, will be performing. The event is a collaborative effort involving prominent dance music promotion groups such as Raw Rotation, Inception, Kernow Rave Culture, and TNT.
