Police Target Illegal Raves All Over The UK

"The last thing we want is a summer of raves."

UK authorities are warning dance music lovers not to risk breaking social distancing rules to attend illegal raves. There have been an alarming number of illegal music events taking place despite Public Health England advising to stay at home and socially distance. Police have admitted that intelligence failures meant that they were often unable to prevent events happening but will be taking a tougher stance on those blatantly breaking lockdown rules.

Despite Police vowing to crackdown on illegal raves it is unclear what further punishments could be given with one authority saying "...people would face fines or something much more severe."

Police have said that they are already struggling to balance resources with large scale BLM protests in towns and cities in the UK. Recently an illegal rave attracted 6000 people on the same weekend as widespread protests taking place.

One Police Chief Constable has appealed directly to people for their help: "Please, please, if you know about these events then make sure you are telling the authorities, make sure you are telling the Police, so we have the best opportunity to prevent them from occurring. The last thing we want is a summer of raves.”

We explore the thoughts of artists and music sharing. In today's digital age, discovering new music has become more accessible than ever due to online platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and download services such as Beatport. While traditional methods of exploring music, such as visiting record shops, have diminished in popularity, the process of musical exploration remains significant and enriching, especially when one encounters a standout track. For performing artists, the quest for fresh music is a continuous endeavor, often regarded as equally important as the performance itself. This raises an interesting question: is it appropriate for artists to keep the details of their music sources confidential? This topic invites further discussion from some of the South West DJs and producers on the nature of music discovery in the modern landscape.
