Ivybridge and Rural Police reported that officers responded to notifications of an ongoing rave at Cadover Bridge around 07:00 BST. Upon arrival, approximately 50 individuals and 35 vehicles were at the location. The police detained five individuals on charges related to drug driving, possession of illegal substances, and possession of a knife. The event organizers complied with requests to vacate the area, according to the police statement.
Ivybridge and Rural Police issued a statement on social media regarding their recent interactions with event organisers. They confirmed that officers engaged with the organisers and served them documentation under Section 63 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, which requires the organisers to vacate the premises.
Organisers responded promptly by dismantling the equipment and ensuring the site was cleared of any litter.
The police expressed their gratitude to community members affected by the temporary road closure, particularly those participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award who faced a minor detour. It was reported that several vehicles were abandoned at the location due to drivers being under the influence of alcohol, and law enforcement will follow up to ensure the retrieval of all vehicles.
Additionally, the police indicated that a significant quantity of other drugs was seized during the operation.
