Right now Apple are putting everything they have on becoming the worlds number one music streaming resource and DJs could be how they achieve supremacy. Apple signing DJs to create fully legal content for their DJ mix category. The initiative is powered by Shazam which allows tracks to be identified and Apple's music platform would allow for royalties to be paid.
Apparently the tech is so precise that it can identify two tracks being mixed and even from live music stages.
Apple is building upon the Shazam tech that it acquired in 2018 and partnering with record labels. Apple has the tools to identify music and ensure royalties are paid to the record labels and artists. With the introduction of lossless audio and offline listening for 'most mixes', Apple believe they can become the number one music resource. Apparently the tech is so precise that it can identify two tracks being mixed and even from live music stages at festivals.
Apple have already commissioned DJ mixes from Carl Cox and Charlotte de Witte with a large scale expansion planned for their DJ mixes music category.
