We explore the thoughts of artists and music sharing. In today's digital age, discovering new music has become more accessible than ever due to online platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and download services such as Beatport. While traditional methods of exploring music, such as visiting record shops, have diminished in popularity, the process of musical exploration remains significant and enriching, especially when one encounters a standout track. For performing artists, the quest for fresh music is a continuous endeavor, often regarded as equally important as the performance itself. This raises an interesting question: is it appropriate for artists to keep the details of their music sources confidential? This topic invites further discussion from some of the South West DJs and producers on the nature of music discovery in the modern landscape.

What the organisers say

The Eden Project announced today that American singer-songwriter Jack Johnson is the latest superstar name confirmed for next year’s Eden Sessions.

The much-loved performer is set to appear in front of the world-famous Biomes on Friday June 23, 2023.

Next year’s date will mark Jack’s third time on the Eden Sessions stage, having played two previous sold-out shows in 2010 and 2018.

A long-time environmentalist who joined his wife Kim in co-founding Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation, a non-profit devoted to supporting environmental education, Jack has found immense purpose in caring for his community. This has included, most recently, working on and developing a learning farm.

Jack is a long-term supporter of the Eden Project and Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation will be highlighted at the show with a call to action on the climate emergency in conjunction with Eden.

Rita Broe, Managing Director of Eden Sessions Ltd, said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Jack back to the Sessions. His previous shows here were such unforgettable experiences and a real joy to watch. We’re sure his many fans will be as delighted as we are that he is returning to Eden.”

Jack’s decades-spanning career has included multiple awards and two Grammy nominations, more than 25 million album units sold worldwide, and countless sold-out tours, during which he has emerged as a leading force in greening the global touring industry.

Jack’s eighth studio album and first new full-length in five years, Meet The Moonlight, affirms him as an essential voice in elevating our perspective and subtly guiding us toward a more expansive state of mind.

In a departure from his past work, most of the album took shape from one-on-one collaboration with producer Blake Mills, an intimate and highly experimental process that involved embedding Jack’s elegantly stripped-back arrangements with enchanting sonic details.

Tickets will go on sale to Inside Track Passholders from 10am on Monday November 14 until 9am Thursday November 17, 2022.

Tickets go on general sale at 12 noon on Thursday November 17, 2022.

Already announced to play next year’s Eden Sessions are global superstar Lionel Richie (June 7, 2023) and rock sensations The War on Drugs (June 18, 2023).

In September 2019 the Eden Project and global live events company AEG Presents announced a new partnership, Eden Sessions Ltd, to run the Eden Sessions.

In September last year Volvo Car UK announced a new three-year partnership as the Official Automotive Partner of the Eden Project and the Eden Sessions music concerts, a deal brokered by AEG Global Partnerships.

This long-term collaboration aims to inspire and educate visitors about people’s relationship with the environment and how we can protect the planet to create a safer future.
