One of the South West's leading dance music DJs, Tommie Quick, joins us for an hour long mix of two halves. The first half of his mix is what he describes as house groovers under his 'Tom Pariah' alias and second half features a harder edged vibe that Tommie is known for.
What has been your stand out gig of the year?
There have been a few, but the one that stands out above the rest would be playing the BBC Introducing Stage at Looe Live. It was my first experience of DJing at a silent disco and it was a lot of fun, great setting and energetic crowd.
What is next for you?
I’ve got a couple of new releases cooking in the studio which should be ready in the next few months, probably the start of 2020. Just before writing this I’ve sorted my tracks for my first Tom Pariah gig in Plymouth, playing house at Hanging Gardens with Jess Bays from the epic Defected label. Later this month I’m playing the Publand Halloween special with Andy Whitby and then next month Tranzaction is hitting Weston Super Mare, bringing Judge Jules to the town for a night of classics.
There may even be a plan for Tranzaction to return to Cornwall in the near future, or maybe I just made that up?...
Describe your DJ sound?
I describe my sound as diverse and energetic and I mix across a spectrum of genres from house, trance, techno, hard dance and anything in between. Music is either good or bad in my book, I just lay it down and have fun.
Talk us through your podcast track selection.
I wasn’t sure how to take this one, steer more toward my Tom Pariah sound or kick out something harder that I’m more well known for. I’ve settled for a mixture of both. The first half an hour is a selection of house groovers and for the second half I up the tempo and the dirt with a harder edged vibe.
