We explore the thoughts of artists and music sharing. In today's digital age, discovering new music has become more accessible than ever due to online platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and download services such as Beatport. While traditional methods of exploring music, such as visiting record shops, have diminished in popularity, the process of musical exploration remains significant and enriching, especially when one encounters a standout track. For performing artists, the quest for fresh music is a continuous endeavor, often regarded as equally important as the performance itself. This raises an interesting question: is it appropriate for artists to keep the details of their music sources confidential? This topic invites further discussion from some of the South West DJs and producers on the nature of music discovery in the modern landscape.

Enyon Brings The Disco

Episode 3/19 | Enyon | Podcast Mixes

A poster for podcast mixes enyon episode 3/19

Enyon provides our latest podcast mix crammed full of disco, boogie and soul against some slick toe-tapping beats! If you enjoy this mix as much as we do, you are sure to be in for an audio treat!

Hello Enyon, please introduce your self.
Hey Little South, thanks for asking me to do a podcast mix. My real name is Si Gordon and for the last 30 years (ouch) i’ve cut my teeth as a music producer, engineer, DJ, promoter and educator.

What is your typical musical style?
For the last 4 years I have reverted back to my roots, re-establishing myself as a producer and DJ.. I have ventured back to what I grew up on, disco, boogie with oodles of soul!! However, I cannot ignore my house music blood and my DJ sets, own and others productions are a fusion of all.

Who are your musical influences?
I grew up in the late 70’s and 80’s, I was exposed to and influenced by artists like Quincy Jones, George Clinton, Bootsy, Odyssey, Loleatta Holloway, Giorgio Moroder, Nile Rodgers, Derain, Ultimate, Grace Jones, Kraftwork, OMD & John Davis amongst so many more.. I could go on but we’d be here all day!

Talk us through your tune selection for this podcast mix.
Well, it’s always a tough ask to get yourself across in 1 hour, but i’ve tried my best. It reflects my current sound, a mix of disco, boogie and house. Ive included a few classic re-edits (Billy Preston, Chaz Jankel, Unlimited Touch etc), thrown in some old, new and unreleased tracks too. I even managed to drop a couple of accapella’s within the mix for good measure!

Tell us about your 2018 stand out gigs?
Our Modern Disco parties were rather large last year, hope to do more of the same and bigger this year. If was to choose a highlight it would have been the Studio 54 Tribute night on New Years Eve at Barefoot in Newquay. It’s rare that I get to play a 6 hour set with accompanying musicians and this night had it all, everything just seemed to fall into place, the perfect music, crowd, venue, sound and company..

What’s next for 2019?
If last year was anything to go by, more of the same please! I released a lot of great music with some amazing musicians, singers and remixers, the work was extremely well received worldwide with some truly humbling support from DJ’s, radio and 3rd party licensors. I have a few things lined up for this year with releases coming up in the next month and throughout the rest of the year on my own imprint ‘Enyon Music’ and other labels such as Plaizir, Spinkbok and more.

Events wise, we are currently planning the next run of Modern Disco parties which will start again in the spring after a well deserved few months off, we are continually trying to bigger and better than the last so expect some big things this year.. We are so happy with how these parties have been received, so thanks to everyone who has been down and experienced the full production. I’ll continue my monthly radio show on Source FM which always features some exclude music and DJ mixes from the genres key players. Finally, I also lecture and manage FE courses and HE Modules for dBs Music full time so life it pretty full on, but I would not change it for the world! My life is music and what would life be like with out it?
