We are already well into January and we couldn't go any longer without another DnB bounty courtesy of DJ Leroy. Never one to let the loyal listeners down, DJ Leroy has delivered the motherload of DnB mixes fresh to kick 2022 into action!
Hi, Please introduce yourself to those unfamiliar with your DJ life.
For those who don’t know me, I’m DJ Leroy from Cornwall. I have been mixing DNB for over 20 years, and run the event Rave in the Cave UK.
Describe your DJ sound.
My DJ style is full spectrum Drum & Bass, meaning if it’s a good tune, it makes the cut, regardless of all the sub genre nonsense.
Tell us how you have kept busy during the last year or so of lockdowns.
What have I been doing over the lockdowns? Well, I have had quite a busy time since we last spoke, as myself and my wife Cozzie Watt have had a new arrival!
Our baby daughter, Harmony Wright has now joined the clan, and both Mum & Baby have done amazingly well!
I am now finding time for music again, and am enjoying quality family time with our new addition.
We have also been busy with events too, we hosted a sold out Rave in the Cave party at Carnglaze Caverns late November, featuring Kenny Ken, Crissy Criss, Phibes, Jack the Ripper, alongside a wealth of South West DNB talent. It was a banger! We will return to the Cave on Saturday 23rd April for more underground shenanigans, check out our social media for more info.
Talk us through this podcast episode and why you have chosen to include the tracks that have made the cut.
This one was recorded in one hit between baby feeds lol, but the tune selection was handpicked from 2021.
I picked the tunes which made the most impact for me across the year, in addition to a couple of new tunes from this year too. Hopefully listeners will find a spread of Bass heavy DNB, Bootlegs & classics all mixed across 3 decks. I suggest turning it up loud with headphones or a good sound system to feel some of the sub basslines!
I would just like to shout out to all the SW DNB players once again, and encourage everyone to keep it moving.
Finally, I would like to use this platform to raise awareness of a charitable cause we are championing. Jay Day AKA DJ Re:Defeat the DNB legend from Newquay has set up the Forever Days Cornwall Foundation, which aims to raise £100k every year in order to provide much needed support for the RCH Treliske Oncology Wards. This is particularly close to our hearts as Jay has been battling advanced Cancers for some time now, and is pouring his efforts into helping others.
Please help us to do our very best for Jay & help him with the fantastic work he is doing.
