Pluvio Invites: Culprate & Omadhaun

4th April 2025

The Venue, Penzance

This event is the inaugural show in a planned series of techno and breakbeat events organised by Pluvio, who aims to collaborate with various DJ friends. The kickoff event will occur on April 4th, 2025, at The Venue in Penzance, featuring performances by notable artists Culprate and Omadhaun as the leading DJs on the lineup.

What the organisers say

It's been 13 years since Culprate's "Colours" album, arguably his first untethered foray into the realms of IDM. This, succeeded by his most iconic display of meticulously crafted designs "Deliverance", would set Culprate to carry the torch in the world of experimental bass music. Since Cornwall gives home to iconic figures such as Aphex Twin & Luke Vibert, it lends to a passionate culture that thirsts for the dark & quirky, it's any surprise Culprate has not yet graced the Cornish community with these otherworldly productions in a live environment.

This first appearance is made even more exciting with 'Omadhaun' joining to showcase his exploration into the fringes of bass music and beyond. Both have been collaborating and gigging together religiously for the last few years, smashing an insane b2b of original content at last years Boomtown Festival, so having the pair together is a real privilege.

Expect a night of gnarly breaks, the wonkiest garage and blinding techno with all the sprinklings of weird that us Cornish folk crave the most + Support from your favourite south west selectas!

The third brain behind SIGNaL and a name that is synonymous with Cornish techno. Known for his hard driving sound and uncompromising mixing style and track selection. Andy Matter has the raw ability to show what the power of the techno scene today really is.

LUKAI (SIGNaL/Tevi Sound System)

Lukai has been mastering his craft as a DJ for almost 2 decades. Growing up in South London, Lukai got involved in the local Drum and Bass scene in his late teens, earning himself a weekly radio show on one of the many underground pirate stations broadcast across the city. Migrating to Sheffield in 2010 Lukai focused a huge amount of time into promoting parties and Djing alongside some of the biggest names in Drum and Bass. This however is only part of the story. As a lover of all corners of music and having worked with some of the best sound systems in the UK, Lukai developed a taste for crafting a journey through music and has built up a library to slay any dance, any genre, any time!

We explore the thoughts of artists and music sharing. In today's digital age, discovering new music has become more accessible than ever due to online platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and download services such as Beatport. While traditional methods of exploring music, such as visiting record shops, have diminished in popularity, the process of musical exploration remains significant and enriching, especially when one encounters a standout track. For performing artists, the quest for fresh music is a continuous endeavor, often regarded as equally important as the performance itself. This raises an interesting question: is it appropriate for artists to keep the details of their music sources confidential? This topic invites further discussion from some of the South West DJs and producers on the nature of music discovery in the modern landscape.
