Ministry Of Sound 25 Year Celebration Mini-Documentary

News & Features

The documentary explores the London nightclub's rise to an international mega brand.

A crowd of people are standing in front of a stage at a concert.

Fresh off releasing the 25th instalment of its vaunted compilation series, 'The Annual', Ministry of Sound has dropped a mini-documentary, which explores how the club has grown into a dance music powerhouse, particularly via 'The Annual'.

"Ministry of Sound will roll out 25th edition of 'The Annual' mix compilation."

Judge Jules, Tall Paul (who both mixed 'The Annual - Millennium Edition'' and 'The Annual 2000') and Ministry fan Paul recall their personal experiences of the club in its early days, and dance music more broadly.

It goes on to detail the growth of 'The Annual' and how it took Ministry to new heights, exposing dance music to the broader British public, particularly through TV commercials.

Ministry of Sound will release the 25th edition of its legendary compilation series, 'The Annual', which kicked off back in 1995 with mixes from Pete Tong and Boy George; its editions have since gone on to sell more than ten million copies.

The 66-track, three-CD release will cover the sounds that have embodied the club over its storied lifespan, with classics from the likes of Faithless, Underworld, Todd Terry and Fatboy Slim sitting alongside newer hits from MK, Duke Dumont and Route 94.

We explore the thoughts of artists and music sharing. In today's digital age, discovering new music has become more accessible than ever due to online platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and download services such as Beatport. While traditional methods of exploring music, such as visiting record shops, have diminished in popularity, the process of musical exploration remains significant and enriching, especially when one encounters a standout track. For performing artists, the quest for fresh music is a continuous endeavor, often regarded as equally important as the performance itself. This raises an interesting question: is it appropriate for artists to keep the details of their music sources confidential? This topic invites further discussion from some of the South West DJs and producers on the nature of music discovery in the modern landscape.
